Want to see your Facebook friends' birthdays and upcoming events inside aCalendar? Because Facebook stopped offering direct calendar synchronization for mobile apps, you need to use an external helper tool. Here is how to set it up easily.

1

Why Direct Sync is Not Possible

Many years ago, Android apps could download Facebook events automatically. However, Meta changed its privacy rules and turned off this feature:

Technical Restriction: Facebook currently does not provide an open system link (API) for calendar data to independent developers. Because of this lock-in, no third-party calendar application can pull data directly from your Facebook account anymore. You must use a workaround to bridge the connection.

Alternative: Managing Birthdays Directly

If you only want to track your friends' special days, we highly recommend saving them directly into your device's contacts application:

The Android Contacts Advantage

When you add a birthday directly to a contact in your phone's address book, your Google account syncs it safely forever. aCalendar reads these system entries automatically and lists them beautifully in your calendar view.
