Here you can find all notification settings in aCalendar – for events, tasks, birthdays and more.
Events
Notification sound, vibration & LED
Choose the ringtone for event reminders and configure vibration and LED. On Android 8 and above you can also access the Android notification channel settings directly from here.
Snooze duration
Set how long an event reminder is snoozed when you tap Snooze on the notification.
Re-notification
Set up automatic re-notification – for example to be reminded again 3 times at 15-minute intervals, until you dismiss the notification manually.
Default reminders for new events
To set the default reminder time for new timed or all-day events, go to Event defaults and Editor settings.
Mute a single calendar
To turn off notifications for a specific calendar, go to the Calendar List (Menu → Manage Calendars) and long-press the calendar.
Birthdays & Anniversaries
Notification sound, time, vibration & LED
Choose the ringtone and the time of day for birthday reminders, and configure vibration and LED. On Android 8 and above you can also go to the Android notification channel settings.
Days in advance
Set how many days before a birthday or anniversary you want to be reminded. You can configure this separately for favourite contacts and all contacts.
Pin a birthday notification
Tap the pin icon on a birthday notification to keep it visible in your notification area until you unpin it – useful as a constant reminder to call someone or buy a present.
Open contact directly
Tap the contact photo on the right side of a birthday notification to open the contact directly – available when the birthday is stored in the contact.
Tasks
Notification sound, time, vibration & LED
Choose the ringtone and the notification time for all-day task reminders, and configure vibration and LED. On Android 8 and above you can also go to the Android notification channel settings.
Sticky Date
The sticky date notification shows today’s date as an icon in your status bar. When you expand the notification area, you can see your next upcoming events and today’s all-day events.
On Android 8 and above you can use the notification channel settings to hide the icon from the status bar while still seeing the notification when the notification area is expanded.
Profile
Choose which events are shown in the sticky notification.
Tomorrow’s events & locations
You can optionally show tomorrow’s events and event locations in the sticky notification.
Other settings
Wake up screen
When this is turned on, your phone’s screen lights up when a notification arrives while the phone is sleeping – so you can see the details straight away. This uses a small amount of extra battery power.
aCalendar Alarm System
This setting (on by default) adds a safety net for calendar notifications in case Android’s own alarm system does not work correctly. If you suddenly experience issues with notifications, try turning this off and contact support with details.
Test & Debug
The Test button creates a test notification and checks for common setup issues that could interfere with notifications.
After tapping Test, you can also tap Debug to see all scheduled and dismissed events in Android’s alerts database. Support may ask you to do this when troubleshooting notification problems.
