We regularly receive requests for password or PIN protection to lock access to aCalendar. However, aCalendar does not offer app protection features and we do not plan to implement them. Here is why and what you can do instead.

Why aCalendar Does Not Include PIN Protection

There are two key technical reasons why app-level passwords do not provide true privacy or security:

Calendar Data Remains Exposed

aCalendar uses the central Android calendar database to display your events. Even if aCalendar were locked with a PIN, your calendar data would remain completely accessible through other calendar apps or system widgets on your phone.

False Sense of Security

An in-app lock creates a false sense of security without actually encrypting or protecting your data at the operating system level.

To effectively protect your personal data, we strongly recommend using system-level security features:

Device Lock Screen: Always secure your entire smartphone with a strong Device PIN, Password, Pattern, or Biometric Lock (Fingerprint / Face Unlock).
