Learn how to view, add, and manage your calendars in aCalendar – step by step, no technical knowledge required.

1

What is the Calendar List?

The Calendar List shows all calendars on your device – whether stored locally or synced with the cloud (e.g. Google).

1

Open the menu

Tap the ☰ menu icon in the app, usually in the top left.

2

Tap “Manage Calendars”

You’ll land directly in the overview of all your calendars.

Calendars are grouped by account (e.g. your Google account). Next to each account you can see the sync status. At the very top you’ll always find aCalendar’s own calendars: Birthdays & Anniversaries, Tasks, Holidays, and Special Days.

Calendars shown in grey are read-only – you can view events in them but not edit them.

2

Adding New Calendars

Tap the + button in the bottom right to add a new calendar. The following types are available:

Holidays & School Vacation

Plus Feature

Automatically filled for your region.

Weather

Plus Feature

Show weather directly in your calendar.

Local Calendar

Stored on your phone only – no cloud backup!

Google Calendar

Create a new Google calendar & sync it.

Import ICS File

Import a calendar from a file.

Important for Outlook, Yahoo & others:
These are not set up directly in aCalendar. You first need to add them via your phone’s Android account settings – aCalendar will then show them automatically. You can find a direct link to your phone’s sync settings in the calendar list under Menu → Android Account/Sync Settings.

3

Calendar Settings

Use the checkmark at the end of a calendar row to show or hide it. For more options, simply long-press the calendar entry:

Calendar Color

Change the color of the calendar and all its events.

Per-event Colors

Each event can have its own color. If you don’t want that, you can turn this off per calendar – all events will then use the calendar color instead.

Set as Default

This calendar will be automatically selected when creating new events.

Synchronize

Turn sync on or off. Not available for local calendars.

Event Notification

Turn reminders for events in this calendar on or off.

Synchronize Attachments

You can attach Google Drive files to your events. This feature is only available for Google Calendars.

Google only

Rename

Give the calendar a custom name.

Google & Local only

Share

Share the calendar with other people.

Google only

Google only

Google only

Delete

Google & Local only

aCalendar’s own calendars have a few special settings.
The calendar color and the month view display can be changed just like for other calendars.
For Birthdays & Anniversaries, Tasks, and Special Days there is a direct link to further settings – for Special Days you can even enable or disable individual days.
For Tasks you can additionally choose whether completed tasks remain visible in the calendar view.
Holidays & School Breaks are deleted without a confirmation prompt – but you can always add them again. They can also be marked in red so that holidays are highlighted in the calendar view.

4

The Calendar List Menu

In the top right you’ll find three dots ... – tap them for more options:

Manage Profiles

Set up different calendar profiles (e.g. Work / Personal). Requires aCalendar+ or Business Feature.

Synchronize

Asks Android to immediately update all cloud calendars. May not work when battery saver mode is active – this is an Android issue, not an aCalendar issue.

Android Account/Sync Settings

Direct link to your phone’s sync settings – useful for setting up new cloud accounts.
